About

I am a Bengal-American Muslim woman, born and raised in Metro Detroit. After a brief attempt at law school I re-directed and signed up for sketch writing class. No more living on other people’s terms! I was raised in a collectivistic culture where I was taught that self-identity is selfish and the utility you provide to the community is highest above all else. Basically, I’m confused and unsupervised out here.

I used to view this conflict of self as a weakness but it’s really my strength. I live in the duality of life. I don’t often fit into tradition and I’m okay with that. I am a city girl, but I love to reflect in nature. I love to be around people, but recharge on my own. I love tacos, but I’d slap you for some rice. Yup, that’s me! I’m living life on my own terms, respecting my culture, and sharing the knowledge I’ve gained.

I am a writer, civil servant, leader, yogi, culture-judge, amateur food and beer blogger, grief survivor, and over-sharer. I believe that every person lives an adventure and it’s all on how you view it and shape your narrative.

Follow me as I learn to carry painful grief beyond my comprehension and I discover who the fuck I am and finally write my script
